- Reduce plastic by switching to reusable glass water bottles instead of plastic. If you don’t trust your pipes add a water filter
- Use recycled material for children’s art and crafts
- Recycle plastics, textiles, electronics, glass and paper with your local recycling facility
- Compost your food to reduce food waste and use it for your house plants or garden
- Grow your own vegetables and herbs if you can
- Use reusable plastic bags or glass to store food instead of single use items.
- Buy organic when able
- Buy produce that is in season and if you’re able, buy local
- Adopt a flexitarian diet, reduce meat and dairy and eat more plant based food. It’s good for you!
- Go vegan one month per year
- Avoid highly processed foods
- Cut your portion size to avoid overeating or wasting food
- Use energy efficient appliances and LED light bulbs
- Use solar powered electronics/ lights when possible
- Use cloth napkins in the kitchen instead of paper towels
- Use plant based food wraps instead of plastic
- When buying food, buy in bulk instead of small portions
- Save up your laundry for a full load, and wash with cold water when you can and wash more sturdy items less
- Use safe and natural detergents for all your appliances
- Turn off or reduce the A/C temperature if you’re leaving the house to save energy
- When washing your cars, use a bucket instead of a hose to reduce water waste
- Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth
- Use bamboo toothbrushes instead of plastic
- Switch to environmentally friendly sanitary products
- Use shampoo and soap bars instead of the ones sold in plastic containers
- Use a natural loofah instead of the plastic ones
- Avoid self-care products that contain microplastics and palm oil.
- Mend, fix, re-wear and restyle old clothes, furniture, home accessories. Be creative!
